Your gynecologist is responsible for performing several exams for your sexual and reproductive health. The frequency you receive these exams varies depending on your risk factors and family history, but it is important to schedule at least one visit a year for a general checkup.
It is recommended that you visit a gynecologist at least once a year so your physician can check for cancer risk factors, STDs (if you are sexually active), and other abnormalities. Additionally, if you want to have children someday, your gynecologist can keep track of your reproductive health.
